Featured in the Observer – How Immigration Made British Food Great
It was great to be featured in the Observer Magazine today in an article celebrating the impact of immigration on British food culture.
The feature extols the rich culinary traditions immigrants have bought to the UK and introduces five young chefs (myself included) who talk about what the food culture of their heritage means to them.
It is a great piece about one of the most inspiring aspects of the UK – its cultural diversity – and how that has helped the country flourish is many arenas, food included.
The article is a preview for the new Nigel Slater TV series “Eating Together” which starts on BBC 1 on the 1st June. In the series, Nigel meets devoted home cooks across Britain to find out culinary secrets from across the world and to discover what makes different cultures in Britain tick. I’m featured in Episode 4 on the 22 June, sharing one of my favourite dishes from Iran and talking about Iran’s history and food culture so do tune in!
